Workshops, Seminars and Coaching
For more than twenty years Jeff Allison has helped practitioners acquire proficiency in motivational interviewing (MI). His experience extends across diverse fields, countries and cultures, and from brief seminars to comprehensive week-long workshops. He has taught in consecutive and simultaneous translation.
MI takes an hour to understand and a year to practise without error. However, even the briefest exposure will result in the majority of practitioners improving, to some degree, the efficacy of their practice.
The familiar constraints on resources need not be obstacles to satisfactory outcomes. Guided by the commissioner's preferences and circumstances Jeff offers realistic advice about the likely best training options. The conventional pathway proceeds from an examination of the established competencies of MI to investigating the method's specific applications in the practitioner's work setting, using either simulation exercises or, with open-ended groups, recordings and transcripts.
